Information about the Match Fishing section.
Cranbrook Angling Club runs a thriving match fishing section throughout the year.

Matches are held on a wide variety of venues, mostly Club waters but occasionally on local Commercial Fisheries.

Points are awarded to the top ten weights in each match and are added up throughout the season to find the aggregate winner. There are also a few matches which are fished for specific trophies usually in memory of past members or club officers.

The matches are always an enjoyable experience, you don't have to be a serious match angler to take part. Junior members are always welcome to enter these matches

If you are interested contact the match secretary, Billy Mitchell, whose contact number can be found on the Club membership card.

Junior Matches
A small series of Junior matches are held by the club during the warmer months. At present these are not particularly well supported and the Club would welcome more Juniors taking part.

The matches are usually only 4 hours long and are this year (2003) being held mostly at a local commercial fishery, Hartleylands Farm Fishery. The fishery owner, Paul Ward, is not charging the club for the use of his water and the club are grateful to him for this gesture.

There are some superb trophies to be won so come on kids, talk to mum or dad and get them to bring you along. They could always bring a good book to read whilst you fish!!!
